Bring your family and friends to visit Harper!
Since the first settlers came in 1863, Harper has been a small, close-knit community
tucked into the central Texas Hill Country. At just over 2,100 feet it sits on the western
edge of Gillespie County at the headwaters of the Pedernales River. Numerous
ranchers make their living here and deer hunting enthusiasts from across the country
lock to the area in the fall and winter.
With great schools, multiple churches, numerous locally owned businesses, a local
history museum, a community park with a rodeo arena, venues for public gatherings,
wonderful restaurants, exotic and game ranches, and a community-minded public
library, there’s a chance you’ve never been anywhere quite like Harper, Texas.
Community events are sprinkled throughout the year and always see a big turnout.
From children’s activities to rodeos, barbecue fundraisers to dances, locals from Harper
and other nearby communities come and spend time together.
Harper is an ideal setting for nature lovers.
Come see the vivid sunrises, sunsets, and dark skies.
Enjoy scenic drives through the area.
